The DSIB Universal Robotics Trainer Board is designed for students, educators, and robotics enthusiasts. Breadboard circuits are easily bumped, prone to loose wires, and tedious to debug. This trainer board integrates all essential components—such as power regulation, motor drivers, and standardized sensor ports—directly onto a professionally manufactured, solder-masked PCB.

Actuators, Power & Chassis Specifications

To convert the development board into a fully mobile autonomous/wireless vehicle, you need the following standard parts:

DC BO Motors (2 pcs)
Standard yellow BO gear motors (3V to 12V). Solder wires to terminal tabs for hooking into L_MO and R_MO slots.

Rubber Wheels (2 pcs)
65mm or 68mm rubber BO wheels. Sized perfectly to friction-fit the dual-flat BO motor shaft.
03.
Robot Chassis
Pre-drilled 2WD acrylic chassis, MDF, or wooden deck. Top surface supports mounting the board using plastic standoffs.
04.
Li-ion Cells & Holder
Two 3.7V 18650 rechargeable Li-ion batteries connected in series (7.4V nominal output) with DC Jack adapter.
05.
Sensors (Line/Ultrasonic)
IR line tracking sensors (x2 for line followers) or HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor for auto collision avoidance.
06.
Caster Wheel
A standard 360-degree free-spinning caster wheel mounted under the chassis front to maintain 3-point balance.

Which Arduino boards are compatible with this trainer kit? +
This trainer board is designed for any Arduino Uno-compatible board. Standard Arduino Uno (DIP or ATmega328P), clones, and Uno-form-factor compatible boards all work. Note that standard female headers on the Arduino may need to be replaced with stackable connectors or male pin headers depending on your connection preference. Contact us if you require a specific connector configuration.
Why is PWM speed control not available for the motor driver? +
The L293D motor driver on this board uses a fixed-enable configuration — the enable pins (EN1, EN2) are permanently connected to VCC. Only the direction control pins (IN1–IN4) are routed to Arduino GPIO. This design conserves 2 GPIO pins for other sensor and module I/O, which is critical when running multiple peripherals simultaneously. For applications requiring speed control, an external PWM-capable motor driver (such as L298N with separate enable wiring) can be used alongside the board.
What external components do I need to purchase separately? +
The base kit does not include sensors, motors, wheels, or wireless modules. You will need to purchase these separately based on your intended projects. Required components typically include: DC gear motors (×2), wheels/tyres (×2), robot chassis, 18650 Li-ion batteries (×2) with holder, and the specific sensor or wireless modules for your project (e.g., HC-05 for Bluetooth, MQ-2 for gas detection).
